Jacques BoissenotConsulting Enologist
Considered to be one of France's top enologists, Jacques Boissenot has been consulting for Leducq Vineyards since 1987. His expertise guides the production of our award-winning vintage wines. Boissenot has spent nearly 30 years practicing the art of winemaking as the protegé of famous French enologist, Professor Emile Peynaud. In 1964, Jacques Boissenot graduated from the University of Bordeaux and made his career debut as director of a professional enological laboratory. The lab's mission was to promote the practice of modern winemaking techniques and establish up-to-date research methods. In 1972, Boissenot became the director of a privately-owned lab where he was responsible for developing new products to meet consumer demands. In 1976, Jacques Boissenot began his own business with the opening of his first testing laboratory. At that time Professor Peynaud requested his assistance and Boissenot began consulting for some of France's top properties. Over the years, as Peynaud's activity gradually decreased, Jacques Boissenot followed his mentor's path by providing consulting services to some of the most prestigious wineries in the Médoc region:Château Lafite Rothschild, Léoville-Poyferré, Léoville-Barton, Pichon-Longueville-Baron, and Palmer. He also works together with Emile Peynaud in consulting for Château Margaux and Léoville Las Cases. Boissenot is considered the master blender of Leducq Vineyard wines. He oversees the operation, works closely with his winemaking team of Bordeaux enthusiasts, and evaluates the quality of the varietals to be used in the final blending of Le Ducq. It is during these stages that Boissenot calls upon his expertise to certify his blend of a new Le Ducq vintage. |
