Winemaker's Comments

The 1997 Sylviane Cabernet Sauvignon is the fourth release of this fine Bordeaux red varietal from the Leducq Vineyards estate in St. Helena, California. The closely spaced vines and well drained soil produce small berries with intense flavors.

This tightly-focused, well-structured Cabernet combines power and elegance. Intense aromas of black currents give way to layers of spice, black licorice and toasty oak. Rich with hints of chocolate and vanilla, the 1997 Sylviane Cabernet displays ripe, silky tannins surroumded wonderfully ripe fruit with a lingering finish on the palate.

The color, tannins and flavors were extracted using traditional Bordeaux techniques and the wine aged for 18 months in small oak barrels. It was then fined with egg whites and bottled.
